Howlin' Hounds Coffee sits snugly in Omaha’s South 16th Street corridor, welcoming a mix of local regulars and visitors drawn by its reputation for top-tier espresso and warm hospitality. This coffee shop isn’t your typical grab-and-go spot; instead, it offers an intimate, almost speakeasy-like atmosphere with a cozy bar setup that invites conversation among patrons as much as it fuels the need for a solid caffeine fix.

The coffee here earns serious respect from those who know their beans. Whether it’s a meticulously crafted cappuccino, a smooth latte, or a sharp long black, the drinks reflect thoughtful sourcing and expert preparation. Baristas take time to share stories about the beans, such as those from Ithaca, NY, making the experience feel more like a mini coffee education than just a quick morning pickup.

Locals appreciate Howlin' Hounds for its blend of relaxed comfort and lively chatter. It’s a spot where you can settle in for a late morning catch-up, linger with a book during a slow afternoon, or pause for a strong espresso shot on a crisp walk through the nearby neighborhood. Mornings are especially worth timing right — it attracts people who genuinely savor their coffee and the small community it fosters.

The space itself is modest but carefully curated: a beautiful coffee bar with attentive hosts who manage to be both engaging and unobtrusive. Many customers return not just for the drinks but for the personable feel, the kind of spot that quickly transitions from new discovery to regular stop in your day.

Without doubt the finest coffee emporium on the continent of the 50 states of this fine nation. Worth flying in from NC for…and walking 25 mins from my hotel in -12F, for the 2 mornings I’m visiting my favorite city! Greg is a National Coffee Treasure. The Hostest with the Mostest! All hail Howlin’ Hounds! Owwwwwwwwooo!

Beautiful bar and incredible coffee. Hayley made sure we were right at home and taught us all about the coffee beans she sources from Ithaca, NY. Definitely worth a trip if you're looking for great coffee.

Ran in for two coffees to go and was blown away by how great this place is. The atmosphere is cozy, the owner is warm and welcoming, and the coffee is oddly one of the best ones I’ve ever had. We’ll definitely be back soon

A little pricey for a 10 oz cup of latte ($7 before tip) but it was one of the best lattes I have had in a good long while. Definitely one of my new favorites in Omaha. I also love the aesthetic of the place; no-frills and minimalist yet classy. I'll be back!

Homemade syrups, fantastic espresso, delightful cold foam, and lovely service! The price is pretty much on par with any espresso focused place, but I would say its more worth the price than any chain and most local places I've been to. Two large lattes with cold foam and a good tip were $20

I bought a 2lb bag of the Eternal Flame coffee for my husband as a gift. This is his favorite coffee as he says the flavor is smooth and rich. Hayley was very personable and did the grinding for us! We live in Lincoln and plan to get our coffee from here because my husband enjoys it so much.
